10 Ways To Tell A Spirit Is In Your Home

This post is about the signs a Spirit is present and how you can tell if a Spirit is in your home.
Some Spirits in homes are ghosts, as this word tends to stand for deceased Spirits who have not crossed over into the light. But other Spirits in homes have crossed over, or they may be Earth Spirits, such as Gnomes, Angels or Spirit Guides.
So not all spiritual activity is nefarious, and in fact, some spiritual activity is supportive. Meaning, if you have a Spirit in your home, based on the signs below, there is usually no need to panic immediately.
First and foremost, if you think there may be a Spirit in your home, there likely is. Trust your intuition, and if you are sensing additional energy, there probably is one.
Most of the time, this individual is a Deceased Loved One, such as a grandfather, but it could also be someone from a historical era or another type of Spirit local to your community, such as a Spirit of the land.
All that separates The Spirit World and us is a thin, permeable veil, and because of this, Spirits can easily visit, stop by or stay for a while, if they like.
They also can be relatively easy to sense.

10 Ways To Tell A Spirit Is In Your Home
1 - Movement of Objects
Those in Spirit can move things, using the energy in the space or the energy they create by their presence in a space.
If you see things move, things are misplaced, you see cabinets, toys, windows, and doors opening or moving and untouched by physical hands, a Spirit may be responsible for this.
Some also believe a Spirit can create a physical object out of thin air, called an apport.
2- Pressure Change
Changes in air pressure, such as:
A sudden coldness
A sudden warmth or heat

If you don't see something or someone come into your physical space, something unseen could have stepped into your spiritual space.
The change in the air quality and exactly how it changes can also tell you a bit about the type of spiritual energy you might have present.
Some frequencies feel colder, some warmer, some heavier, and some lighter. Most people have a preference. If you prefer warmer and brighter Spirits visiting you, this will be the trend.
3 - Electrical Activity
Those in Spirit use energy to operate, appear, and move about in the physical world, just as we use energy to manage the physical world (eating, sleeping, drinking, exercising).
By manipulating energy, some Spirits can affect electrical objects to get our attention.
If you notice:
Lights are turning on and off in your home
Your television is changing channels, turning on and off
You are receiving odd texts and phone calls from unknown numbers on your telephone
These could be signs of spiritual influence. If the electrical happens simultaneously every day, or right when you are talking about the issue you are experiencing, this is also a sign.
4 - Noise
Those in Spirit can make noises by:
Opening and shutting doors, windows, and cabinets
Dropping objects by pushing them
Moving their energy throughout the house, such as by pressing it down on the floorboards, creates the sound of walking or creaking
Noise can be an indicator of a deceased loved one who is trying to get through. Do you know someone who passed suddenly? Know someone on the other side who may have a message for you?
Sometimes they will resort to physical noises that may sound alerting first, but what is happening is The Spirit World wants your attention.
If you hear physical noises that "aren't there" or "no one else hears," consider you might be clairaudient.
5 - Pet Cues
Your cats, dogs, or birds respond, make noise at something, or their attention gets drawn suddenly to a specific area of your home.
Animals have different visual and aural receptors than we do, so they often pick up on sounds and sights beyond our range.
Have a sentinel in your home?
If an animal acts a certain way when a new person enters a room, then, they do that specific thing, without apparent new stimuli present, there's a good chance you've got a Spirit who has just stepped in.
It could also be that your pet is merely seeing something beyond the standard human range of sight, such as other residual energies.
6 - Children Telling You
If a child has told you they see someone in the house, there is probably someone in the house.
Children can sense Spirits, and often recognize grandmothers visiting them, old earthbound Spirits in the area, or even their own Spirit Guides. New mothers may also notice the baby's attention going to ethers in the room when they are very young, such as while they are a baby.
Children usually have a keen ability to see and sense those in the non-physical, and they are often clairvoyant. We are all born with and culturally conditioned in and out of this gift. Though some children never get conditioned out of it and we can all condition ourselves back into the sensitivity.
7 - Seeing Shadows
There are many ways to see those in Spirit, but seeing those in Spirit in a shadow form is one of the most common ways to see them.
Shadow Spirits can sometimes be our deceased loved ones, Earth Spirits such as gnomes, or even other types of curious Spirits, such as Animal Guides.
We sometimes will see a Spirit as a shadow, when the density of their form is backlit by a light in the room, meaning that seeing a shadow doesn't always indicate a Spirit is dark. Sometimes, it's just the way light reflects.
8 - Feeling Someone Has Touched You
Feel a deceased pet curl up? Those in Spirit can bump up against you, run into you, and come close to you, just like those with physical bodies.
Those in Spirit who attempt to simulate physical touch are those you know on the other side intimately, such as a pet, a parent, or a spouse.
Being touched by Spirit is somewhat rare, but it also could be a sign you're clairsentient, having the ability to feel those in The Spirit World.
Being clairsentient typically also means you're sensitive to emotions, as well.
If you've felt like you've been touched and don't like it, you can set boundaries with The Spirit World, asking them not to enter your bedroom or space or by using a crystal grid.
9 - Feeling Someone Is Around You
If you feel like someone is watching you, yet when you turn around, no one is behind you, there's a good chance a Spirit is watching over you.
Sometimes these watching Spirits are curious Spirits who may have passed away in the area, or they're Ascended Masters and Guardian Angels.
Other times, "watcher" Spirits can be protectors of the property you're on. They may be ancestral, such as those connected to the land or property. In some cultures, these are called tutelary deities.
Meaning, not all watchers are bad - sometimes they can be protecting Spirit Guides or Ancestors.
Some people like to keep them around, especially calling them in at the entryways of their homes. You can call these types of Spirits by placing art and artifacts there that call upon protection energy.
10 - Hearing Whispering, Talking, Humming or Mumbling
If you're clairaudient, even unknowingly, you may hear whispers, talking, humming, or mumbling.
I once rented a writing cabin in Mount Shasta before I knew about all the lore, and one night, I couldn't sleep due to all the talking I heard in the forest. Only later did I learn about the powerful Spiritual Energy there.
The sound of muffled voices can indeed be the voices of Spirits.
Spirit voices can sound like:
You're listening to talking underwater
Talking through a wall
You hear a radio off in the distance
The voice of Spirit, when heard externally, often sounds far away or muffled at first. This is how it seems when you hear between realms.

The purpose of spirits creating activity
In some cases, Spirits who create all this ruckus don't even realize they are a bother. In other cases, these signs are a cue that someone is actively trying to get your attention.
Spirit is pretty good at being invisible, so when they set the intention to be noticed, it's often a purposeful act. Meaning, if you are sensing a Spirit in the home, you may want to be noticed or want to communicate.
Identifying the Spirit
Perhaps it's a loved one trying to get through or a Guide attempting to make themselves known to you.
Usually, it's the first Spirit who comes to mind.
