Being grounded means you are centered and balanced with who you are on a soul level. It means you're wholly connected to the truest, most authentic self, and version of you.
When you are grounded, you feel present, aware, safe, and connected.
I call it being in the state of your highest self. The best way I can explain groundedness and how it feels:
It feels very similar to the feeling you get when you find yourself in the state of innocence and wonder that one experiences in childhood or adulthood when you see something with grand amazement for the first time.
You feel open, and you feel safe and curious about being open.
It can create a feeling of what it must be like to be a tall mountain or a vast valley or a tree.
When you're grounded, it may improve decisions that honor and respect your soul's needs while respecting and honoring others' rights.
Grounding yourself spiritually only has definite benefits.
cultivating groundedness is a nice tool if
You want to experience time in the present moment
You have an upcoming event and want to feel a sense of presence for it
You feel you are stepping into a conversation deserving of your present mind and focus
You wonder what your soul's essence could feel like and how it might feel like to exist in that space
You are looking for positive spiritual experience
I also feel grounding can heighten and improve intuition. It can also increase your feeling of love and connectedness for others.
In last year's post on spiritually grounding, I explained three ways to ground, including meditation. Meditation is the activity most people I've talked to have associated with when they think of grounding.
Because grounding is the experience of coming into your body and the present moment of awareness, it can be done in many ways and can depend on the person.
So whether you like meditation or looking for a new way to ground, below are a few ideas on how you can cultivate a sense of groundedness mentioned above -

Have an emotional release, include Joy
On the last note. Joy.
I feel experiencing Joy is also part of the key to getting into the mind-state of your highest manifestation of self.
In the metaphysical world, getting into a state of continual highest self is called Joy.
We call the pathway of reaching this state, the process of Raising Your Vibration. If you'd like to learn more about getting to Joy check out: This article on how to know when your vibration is raising or this one on how to boost your energy.
When you are grounded, and back to Earth, you can maintain the grounded feeling going forward by focusing on how you can add value to the day.
For example, I have a note above my desk that reads, Is it helping someone?
Looking at this keeps me grounded and present, but you may have another phrase or method that works for you.
Some people like to say affirmations for grounding - check out the grounding affirmations I often use on this page: 19 Root Chakra Affirmations
A few commonly asked questions about grounding -
Essential oils I like for grounding
Crystals I like for grounding
Any Jasper and all agates are great grounding stones. Any stone with high metallic content, like an ore, such as Granite Ore or even Iron Ore.
Some people like stones with high quartz content because they can amplify the feeling of groundedness.
Music I like for grounding
Anything with a drum beat, or a clap in the background, a traditional boot-stomping dance, such as songs used for country line dancing or traditional Early American dance are great for grounding.
Jessica at Intuitive Soul's blog suggests listening to Dirty Dancing music and watching it to ground your energy. Yep, this works too.
Wherever you are, know you can always rise to the experience of your highest frequency. It can take time. Grounding, I feel, is one way to get there.
Practicing any of the above, even just one of these things can help you get back to a state of centeredness and connection to who you are on a soul level, called groundedness.
