How To Find Your Soul Purpose
Updated 2024.11.14
Wondering what is your divine soul purpose? Asking, what is my divine purpose? You have one, and in this post, we discuss how to find out your soul purpose.
Your soul purpose is the reason you are here on this Earth. Fulfilling it is part of your sacred contract, also called a soul contract. For most humans, seeking it is, in part, what makes them happy and fills them with love.
Think of your soul's purpose like a river that moves forward, and there are many meandering channels. Moving forward, finding beauty and selecting the next most available channel when presented, also looking for one step beyond it, is in part, fulfilling your purpose.
Every action you have taken up until this time is in fulfillment of what that purpose is. Finding out your soul’s purpose is like developing a mission statement for a company that’s been in the business twenty or thirty years already.
It's usually there in the clues. This post is about decoding those clues so that you're able to live in greater alignment with it.
When you're in alignment with your purpose, people often celebrate it.
But sometimes, a person's purpose is to change a stigma, culturally, so that a greater collective of people are celebrated. Meaning, you won’t always find immediate social buy-in for your purpose.
This is why your purpose must be something you come to love because there will always be times when your heart and soul are the main guiding beacons.
Discovering your soul purpose is a matter of putting human words to it, and the meaning that you already have and are.
It can sometimes be identified in an astrological birth chart. Sometimes psychics can read it in your energy field.
Regardless of what outside input you have to validate it, it’s important that once you know what it is, you feel it in your heart. This is what will keep you connected to it no matter what is happening on the outside.
The soul purpose is what keeps most people aligned to their truth, motivated to wake up in the morning, and it often gives businesses and entrepreneurs their customer base.
The reason you are here on Earth is to discover and uncover the truth and meaning of who you are and what you are here to seek.
Each of us provides this gift to ourselves and others in many ways.
We give the gift of our purpose to others every day.
The purpose is often the gift that you give to others when you don’t even notice.
It’s light that you have brought to the lives of others, just by being you - in your true essence. It’s the subjects that interested you in schooling, it’s the details that you notice, it’s how you help others become the hero of their story.
So below, we’re going to cover three ways in which you can find out your purpose and the vehicle you can use to bring it forward on Earth.
3 Questions To Center In On Your Soul Purpose
1. Remember you teach what you’re learning
We teach others what we are learning. Your soul purpose is the reason you are here - it is the lessons you have come to learn and the lessons you share with others. In this way, we are all teachers to others and students of each other.
What is it that you are learning in your life?
Are you learning resilience? Patience? How to offer love through food, heat, or other resources?
Your soul’s purpose is to share what you have learned with others so their life can be improved. Sometimes this can mean sharing resources, money that you have acquired. Sometimes it means teaching others how to laugh.
Take a moment to ask yourself, what is it that I am learning to do?
This is what you are teaching others and thus your gift.
2. Ask someone else to identify your strengths
The people around us often see our light before we do. What types of problems do you solve, and people offer to you?
Is there a way you can solve these for others on a grander scale?
Your customers - friends, family, and coworkers - know what your purpose is. After all, they’ve been going to your store seeking you for years.
So ask them these questions:
What is your favorite part about me?
What is the reason why you like having me as a friend?
What have I taught you?
In what ways have I been a gift to you in your life?
What are my strengths?
If you run a company, you can often find your purpose in your best selling products or resources. If you work for a company, you can often find your purpose in the types of jobs you gravitate towards or in the jobs others ask you to fill.
Find yourself repeatedly being invited to the same types of jobs, no matter the industry? This could be a sign of what your soul’s purpose or soul’s gift is. Go out and ask others - what is the gift I have given to you in your life? What lessons have I taught you? What are my biggest strengths?
Sometimes, those in our lives benefit from our assistance for years, and they become blind to our gift. This happens when a person’s energy has merged with your own. In essence, you are unable to see within your own energy field. A person who is in your field won’t always be able to think about your energy field without adding their own to it objectively.
So if you go around asking people about your gifts, and it's ignored, seek outside groups - like mastermind meet-ups or virtual gatherings for people who are like you.
Usually, new souls aligned with their gifts can immediately see and will share yours. There are people who exist that when they see the light in another, they share what it is freely. When others are attempting to pinpoint your purpose, they may share the feeling you give them, or what they think your job would’ve been in a past life, or what you’d be good at.
These are all clues to how you are to share your gifts with the world.
3. Discover what brings you the most joy
Is there an activity that makes you lose all sense of time? A craft that you work on where when you step into it, hours pass? Maybe you already do it for a living, perhaps you could.
When you are living your gift, time becomes irrelevant, and you may find yourself working well past dinner time or through lunch.
Your soul’s mission on Earth is to find how to live your purpose with the most joy, love, and happiness imbued into it.
Learn what makes your Spirit glow and what piques your interest. This is usually the next thread or expansion of your soul, which may be the next way your purpose can be fulfilled.
Take a few days, a week, or a month to observe what brings you joy, what makes you feel excited and childlike again.
What do you study even after office hours close? What do you wake up drawn to do? What makes you giggle for no reason?
Usually, your purpose, also known as your soul’s gift, is something that is somewhat of talent. You may have had to go to school to hone it, but it’s often something that comes without trying - it’s just part of your soul.
So to recap, to identify your soul’s purpose:
Ask these three questions -
What are you currently learning and can share?
What do other people say my gifts are?
What makes you lose track of time, live in the moment and feel joy?
Sometimes your purpose is 20% of who you are, which makes up 80% of your income. So finding out what it is can also help you tap into some level of wealth or genius zone.
Getting clear on your true gifts and how you can use these to serve others can be helpful when wanting to live that purpose in your everyday life.
To find the vehicle to bring it forward, knock on doors and see which ones open. Figuring out where to place your gift is a bit like planting a garden around the yard. Drop some seeds in a few places and see where they take, then continue in similar areas.
If you're going to start a new business with this purpose as the central theme, finding out exactly what your genius zone is can be helpful. It keeps you focused and on track for your goals.
Your divine purpose is to share your soul’s gift and these questions can help you identify that gift.
