The Spiritual Meaning of the March Worm Moon
March is my favorite month of the year. I was born in March as a Pisces Baby and it’s also the month that initiates spring - the season of renewal and new beginnings.
As we get closer to the Spring Equinox, it starts getting sunnier and warmer out, it feels like the world opens up and more IS possible.
It’s such a hopeful and aspirational time of year. There’s an anticipation of all the potential good that *could* happen in the rest of the year.
It seems like the energy around the start of spring is a positive, hopeful eagerness for the future and I love that feeling - the feeling of achievability, attainability, likeliness and opportunity.
It’s all very motivating and exciting.
This month’s full moon, called the Worm Moon, will be on March 25th in Libra and at peak illumination at 3:00 am ET.
It’s called the Worm Moon because it is traditionally believed that this is when earthworms appear in the soil, they signal the thawing ground for spring, which then invites robins, the birds of spring, to appear.
The interesting part about this particular full moon is that it is also a penumbral Lunar Eclipse.
Eclipses usually happen in pairs and twice a year - one immediately preceding the next, in the spring and again in the fall.
There’s another eclipse on April 8th that is paired with the April New Moon in Aries. This will be a Total Solar Eclipse.
Think of the moons that are also eclipses, as supermoons with their powers amplified by 10.
If the eclipse is a solar eclipse, expect it to bring more outward or “yang” style changes. If it’s a lunar eclipse, like this one is, expect it to bring more inward or “yin” style changes.
Because this is a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, the changes that you experience during this moon can be long lasting, influencing your life for the next six months or more.
The good news is that it is a penumbral eclipse, which essentially means it’s not a very deep eclipse; it’s also not very easy to see, so the effects may be on the lighter side as far as eclipses go.
Below are 3 spiritual meanings of the March Worm Moon:
1 - A Need for Balance and Harmony
This Full Moon Eclipse is in Libra, a sign represented by the scales.
This full moon, you could desire a stronger need for balance, harmony and equality. You may be inspired to rearrange your chips on the poker table of life in an effort to achieve a more perfect balance in one or more areas of your soul journey.
Embrace your good and bad feelings, perhaps even share them to level the scales. This is a time for being who you really are to reach a greater equanimity in your experience.
2 - Being a Better Partner
Partnerships and relationships are Libras’ wheelhouse. During this full moon, you may find yourself wanting to be a better “best friend” to yourself or a better partner in your close personal relationships.
This moon can support you in becoming the best partner you can be in any area of your life where collaboration with others is valuable currency. You may open or change your mindset in dating, relationships, work collaborations and more.
Now is the time to find common ground with others, seek to understand those around you and work out a solution that benefits all parties involved.
3 - New Beginnings
This full moon is the first full moon of spring.
Spring is traditionally associated with purity, renewal, cleansing and rebirth. It’s all about awakening anew. The landscape that once looked dead and gone, now gets a second chance at life, growth and abundance.
You are one part of the ecology of the landscape, so this new beginning includes you. Think of ways that you can start fresh, revisit old dreams with new passion or give stagnant ideas another chance at success.
This full moon's message is about harmony, hope, new beginnings, greater balance in partnerships, renewal and awakening.
Pay attention to the opportunities that wind up on your lap during this full moon and commit to being a better partner to yourself and others to make the most of this full moon. Be open to changes that could start things afresh.
