What To Do When You Feel Indecisive
Updated 2024.11.14
How do you stop being indecisive and just leap? Wondering what the spiritual causes of being indecisive are? Want to know how you can improve your indecisiveness? In this article we discuss -
One of the main reasons we often feel indecisive is because we are being flooded with so many ideas, desires, and wishes that all sound good.
When a change point comes in your life, the Universe will often send you several options as to how you are best going to make that change, this way, you can’t mess it up.
For this reason, it’s actually quite normal to pray, meditate, or research a solution and come up with three to four pretty good ideas all within the same day.
Each of these ideas may be great. There being only one of you, though, you may wonder:
Which decision do I choose first? Which idea is the most important for me to tackle now?
When people meet with spiritual advisors, psychics, and energetic healers, often, the reason is due to cloudiness in decision making. So I spend a lot of time supporting others through this topic. I’ve also felt it myself.
Of all the suggestions I've received from the Divine on overcoming indecision, below are a few I've found most helpful in promoting clear, intuitively grounded, and logical decision making.
7 Ways To Make A More Confident Choice
#1 Clear your energy
Sometimes when you’re flooded with indecision, it can be because your energy field, also known as your aura, is clouded with the wishes of others. Think of this as dust on a rock.
By wiping away all the dust, we can genuinely see the radiance of that stone, and better identify where and how that radiance will shine best.
When making a decision for your highest good, you may want to clear out the energy of everyone else’s desires they have for their highest good. Always when you do this, you get a better idea of the right move.
You can clear your energy with just about any meditation, by stepping outside, or by simply turning off the noise for a few hours of focused work. Just lighting a piece of sage will often do the trick for me.
#2 Boost your brain
Indecision can arise when we feel physically, mentally, or emotionally depleted.
Spiritual practices aside, you may be able to clear indecision only by boosting your body with supporting antioxidant-rich foods, herbal teas designed to promote mental alertness and essential oils.
Consider having an afternoon of healthy snacks and then see how you feel clarity-wise in the next couple of days. If your decision can wait, invest in your brain’s needs and then make a choice.
#3 Look at the numbers
Numbers are one of the many tools we can use to make choices that are best for us and best for others. If you are making a decision that involves timing, money or finances, take a look at any metrics you have available to you. See what you can uncover about what the highest aligned choice may be.
The numbers you consult could come from your website analytics, astrological dates, and even synchronicity signs.
Honor whichever system you like to use while being open to new systems. Numbers can tell you a lot about your next best moves and help you balance the gut-brain connection as you move forward courageously.
#4 Pay attention to ideas coming around more than three times
The Universe does not let excellent opportunities slip!
If you are getting an idea confirmed to you through:
Continuously nagging thoughts
Delivery from others
Your customers or other support people in your life
Pay attention. Repeating ideas are ways that our Guides and the Universe nudges us on those wild card options that we know have no basis in the tangible yet, but they could, pretty soon.
#5 Call your power back to you
Another option I like for clearing indecision is a shamanic technique called calling back your power.
The idea is that all of us, including you, leave pieces of ourselves energetically behind when we connect with others, connect to ideas and have a strong desire to help those in the world around us.
Likewise, in each interaction where you’ve made an impact, people in that interaction may be thinking about you afterward, calling up your energy each time they do.
Having your energy out there in the world can create a feeling of diffuseness, making decision-ability feel less clear. So try calling back your energy first, then deciding.
You can call back your power by visualization such as this one:
Imagine yourself holding a ball of light in your hands. Then, visualize all the people and places that come to mind where your energy and thoughts are idling. Ask that they return the piece of you they hold and imagine golden streams of light coming back to the ball you hold until all are restored.
#6 Ask yourself: Is this going to expand me beyond where I currently am or will it keep me in the same spot?
Ask it of each of your options and see how your body or thoughts respond.
If you like where you currently are, you may want to hold that spot. When choosing between two pretty good things, I like to choose the better feeling choice because the better feeling choice is usually the one that is the highest alignment with your larger goal.
As a sweet and straightforward way to clear indecision: choose which option will give you more options in the future and then move from there.
Want to be extra sure on which choice expands you?
Natasha Burton at HerMoney writes that visualizing multiple outcomes can also help you make a brighter choice and I agree, this helps.
Here’s how you do this: Take any choice, clear your energy, and center yourself, then ask to see what it looks like in five years. Use that vision to make your decision. Psychics have been using this last one for centuries, and now you can too.
#7 Take one act
The Universe, your Guides, or whomever you call Source, will often design several multiple good options at once to arise. This is so it’s not really possible to mess up.
With three to four good ideas in front of you, simply choose the most present and persistent one first, and begin. If you have time, do the next one and then the next.
If you forget one step, and it was meant to be yours, it will come back to you as a repeating idea, likely a little bit down the line.
To keep track of all the Divinely aligned actions you receive, keep a notebook of all your thoughts.
Go back to them after a year or so, and see how many eventually got done. Usually, most things do get crossed off, and the ones that didn’t, looking back, you’re typically able to see why specific ideas did not come to form.
So even if you do take one act at a time, it’s okay to let some of the moves slip through the sand. Not all are meant to be.
To recap, to rise above indecision and make a clear choice
Clear Your Energy
Boost Your Brain
Look At The Numbers
Pay Attention To Ideas In Threes
Call Your Power Back
Ask The Important Question
Take One Act
I suggest your energy clearing first; however you choose to do that, then, moving from there.
There are upsides to indecision, so try to be gentle on yourself with this.
Indecision is a sign the choice we are making means a lot to us. So if you are in this space, it’s a sign that you care a lot and that you care about making the intentional choice.
Indecision also helps us really think things through, and it gives us critical time to sort out our philosophies on life. Also important.
So when you feel indecisive, take this time to really get clear on what you need, center your energy, and use the tools above to make a more conscious move towards your future.
