Feel like you've been here before? With Déjà vu, the past is back. In this post, we discuss what it means and how great it is. And just as an FYI, this post includes affiliate links.
Déjà vu is the phenomenon of having the strong sensation or feeling that an event or an experience you encounter in the present moment has been experienced before.
It can also be a vision or a flash of a currently happening experience or event in the past.
Déjà vu is an indicator of an event, place, or experience that you have encountered in a past life.
Whenever I think of Déjà vu, I am reminded of this poem from Rainer Maria Rilke, from The Book of Hours: Love Poems to God -
Widening Circles
I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world.
I may not complete this last one but I give myself to it.
I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I've been circling for thousands of years and I still don't know: am I a falcon, a storm, or a great song?
Rilke is a poet from the late 1800s to early 1900s who’s words ring true today.
Déjà vu can be a great reminder of your connectedness to everything as life expands outward and upward. It can also be a sign of increasing synchronicity in your life.
The first time I experienced Déjà vu was walking out of a gas station shortly after I’d turned thirty. And since then, I’ve experienced it a cascade of times, and in this post, we just reflect on what it symbolizes.
It is a sign that your Spirit has been in this exact situation, location, or scenario before, either in one or many previous lifetimes.
The Purpose of Déjà vu
The spiritual purpose of Déjà vu is to remind you
Have experience doing this before
Are rising above a previous life circumstance
Have overcome similar situations with ease
Are exactly where you need to be on your path
Are a soul with past lives with wisdom and knowledge to support you
Experiencing Déjà vu can also be a sign that you are in union with the universe and the universal plan.
For this reason, I feel Déjà vu is a comforting reminder of the circular rather than linear nature of time.
An invitation to Step into the mystery
Déjà vu is a feeling and a sudden awareness that you receive, and sometimes it is an image flash of familiarity.
Usually, it is experienced as a brief moment of remembering, you have been in a similar situation before.
If you have not experienced Déjà vu, this does not mean you haven't had a past life or aren't capable. I didn't consciously experience my first Déjà vu until I was thirty years old, or after about seven years on my spiritual path.
You may have experienced other trail markers to remind you of your soul's history and journeys, such as number signs or dream messages.
Déjà vu can be a realization or a-ha moment after a pivotally life-changing event. When you receive it, it can be an incredible blessing to receive the information.
Déjà vu is a sign you're on the path of your soul
Whenever you experience this, it’s usually an awareness of the widening expansion of your soul. Perhaps you are in the same place twice, but this time it’s different.
The path of your soul is one in which you align your spiritual gifts with your career, purpose, or vocation. Aligning with this and Spirit gives you may signs you can trust, and one of them is the Déjà vu feeling.
Other signs you are in the path of your soul are, number signs and repeating messages heard more than three times. The feeling of peace in your heart, more times than not, regardless of what may be going on around you, is also a sign.
How to best experience Déjà vu
When you experience it, pay attention to angel numbers, messages from Spirit, and start to walk toward the path of your heart.
You can stay in the same job or career as you do this, but you mainly use your heart as a rudder to determine good energy spots for you.
Move toward the direction of what feels at ease to your energy field, and more and more, the universe will reveal your connectedness. It may enhance your understanding and experience of time, as well.
