Over the course of delivering messages from spirit, I have begun to notice really common explanations from your loved ones, as to why they visit you and come to sessions.
More importantly, their reasons for visiting offer more evidence that your grandparents, uncles, great aunts, friends, and sisters are waiting just on the other side to connect and offer advice, healing and confirmation of your life path.
While this list is not all encompassing, it does start with the #1 reason deceased loved ones visit you in a reading, or why deceased loved ones visit in everyday life.
Why do Deceased Loved Ones come to readings?

1. They can
Oftentimes, when I ask a deceased loved one as to why they chose to come to a session, it is often because they wanted to talk to you and they had the ability to come through. Simple as that!
While they may also be delivering profound and life-changing messages, learning how to connect with a medium in a reading is a skill that needs to develop, and those deceased loved ones, who have learned the technique, will often times come through because they can
Sometimes, they will even deliver messages from other deceased individuals who weren’t able to come to your session or talk to you about spirits and deceased loved ones who visit you in another way. But, the main reason deceased loved ones come to a session, by and large is, because they can do it, so why not?
2. To help you
Our friends, family, and ancestors are still watching over those of us left on earth and send us love every day – often intervening in your life to help align things to occur in your favor.
It is not uncommon for a deceased loved one to come to a reading and talk about all the strings they have pulled to help you out of a difficult situation, for you to meet very important people, or to open up opportunities for your soul’s path and growth – and I love it when they do this.
In addition to setting up lucky coincidences for you, many times, a deceased loved one is coming to assist you with the exact issue that you want to address in our reading. You send up the request for help, and the message is received by The Spirit World.
Often, I wonder if a deceased loved one or spirit guide hasn’t partially guided us to meet in a mediumship session, specifically to help you get back on track to your life’s mission and purpose or hash out the issues, so they can help you fix or heal a long standing situation– such as career troubles, confusion about your life path and spiritual gifts, or simply, how and when your house will be sold!
In addition, it is quite common to have a deceased loved one, who, when on earth was not a pleasant or helpful person, to be the one to come through to assist you on your path ~ almost a form of redemption for what their spirit was unable to do while on earth.
Those connections are truly the most beautiful, as they offer healing for both you, and for your deceased loved one, who still wants to grow and learn, even in spirit.
They truly do want to help you have the best life and most joy possible, so they like to share your own and their life lessons, to provide insight and guidance on your path.
3. To discuss relationships
Many of us have lost loved ones who were once known as the family matchmaker, peacekeeper, or relationship problem solver.
If you are experiencing a situation with your family, friendship, or romantic relationships – these deceased loved ones desperately want to help you fix and heal this scenario, or meet new people, who are aligned with your soul.
Deceased loved ones will come through to provide insight on the true nature of your and the other person’s experience, and provide you with the best steps on how to create, mend, build, or sometimes, end a relationship in a way that aligns with you as a soul, your values, and with love and respect for all those involved.
Occasionally, deceased loved ones will come through to ask you to help facilitate positive change and healing in a relationship between people that you know.
Many deceased feel relationships and love are amongst the most important wealths of their life.
In many ways, relationships between loved ones often affect us, often in ways in which we are yet unaware.
Additionally, the reason they chose you to discuss this with is simply this: You are the best conduit to catalyze this healing.
4. To apologize
After a deceased loved one crosses over, they often go through a life review process, where they observe and reflect on all their experiences and interactions with those on earth.
Through this process, this deceased loved one will learn many truths about how their actions affected and impacted the lives of others (neutrally, positively, and negatively).
Once they have seen the truth of their reality from the other side, they desperately want to connect to apologize and ask for forgiveness for those they have wronged or mistreated.
With parents and grandparents who have mistreated their loved ones, or partners who have mistreated their spouses, this is usually the first thing they would like to address in a session, before moving on to other topics .
These messages, while intense and sometimes difficult to hear and deliver, are often extremely healing and have the opportunity to offer an incredible emotional release.
5. To ask you to deliver messages for them
While the most common reason a deceased loved one comes to a reading is to focus on you – they also realize that you may be the best conduit to deliver messages for them to others, who have not had a reading and may not even consider it.
Plus, they have your attention, and open heart and mind. In other words, during a reading, you are in the perfect place to receive clear and directed information from spirit.
If this is the case, not only will they tell you what to say – but also how to say it, what to do, when to do it, and offer support in the process.
They will not leave you hanging – especially not when asking you to deliver information to a self-proclaimed skeptic or otherwise non-believer.
